Burscough Community Farm is an 18-acre farm that runs a Veg Box Scheme.
We started as Organic Veg Club in November 2013, with our first crop of broad beans and lettuce planted early in the next year.
After four growing seasons we are a community from varied backgrounds who want to produce their own food and support the wider aims of the farm. We have bees and an orchard of fruit trees, soft fruit and nut trees.
In 2016, we became Burscough Community Farm CIC, a ‘not for profit’ Community Interest Company with a broad set of aims:
- to farm organically and sustainably
- to improve the local area for wildlife
- to help people reconnect with the land and nature
- to improve physical health and wellbeing
- to build a strong, diverse and supportive community
Some members like growing, some like to take a share of the produce through our box scheme, some like the social life of our events and some get into conservation and eco-friendly projects.
We keep in touch regularly via email newsletters that record our progress and what’s to come.
