Our work at Burscough Community Farm is grounded in compassion, community, and caring for the land.

We don’t align with any political party, and we don’t endorse political messaging.

Our values are simple: protect the environment, support people in need, and treat everyone with dignity.

Twelve years on this land has taught me more about humanity than any book or debate ever has.

When people arrive at the farm — whether they’re feeling anxious, isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure of their place in the world — nature meets them exactly where they are. No judgement. No suspicion. No barriers to entry.

Just space.

Just patience.

Just the quiet message: You’re safe here. Breathe.

Over time, watching these small transformations has shaped my values in ways I didn’t expect.

I’ve seen how people thrive when they’re treated with dignity.

I’ve seen how confidence returns when someone feels genuinely welcomed.

I’ve seen how healing begins the moment someone realises they’re not being measured, tested, or found lacking.

And the land itself teaches lessons too.

If we protect it, it protects us back.

If we care for it, it gives more than we could ever take.

If we damage it for short-term gain, the consequences echo for generations.

So these are the values I hold:

I believe in protecting the environment that sustains all of us.

I believe in offering safety to people who arrive in need, no matter who they are or where they come from.

I believe in compassion as a starting point, not an afterthought.

I believe in community — not as a slogan but as a lived practice.

These aren’t political positions.

They’re human ones.

They come from watching people and places flourish when they’re treated with care, and falter when they’re not.

If the farm has taught me anything, it’s this:

when we protect the land and protect each other, good things grow.
