Connect with Nature at Burscough Community Farm
In the heart of rural West Lancashire, Burscough Community Farm offers a unique way to improve your mental health by reconnecting with nature through Green Social Prescribing. Here are three ways you can benefit from our farm:
- Nature-based Arts and Crafts: Engage in creative activities using natural materials. These hands-on projects help reduce stress and foster a deeper connection to the environment.
- Growing and Consuming Healthy Food: Experience the joy of growing your own food and learning about sustainable practices. Enjoy the benefits of fresh, nutritious produce and the satisfaction of cultivating your own garden.
- Walking and Observing Nature: Take leisurely walks around our farm, observing the beauty of nature. These mindful walks are excellent for reducing anxiety and promoting mental clarity.

The Social Benefits of Taking Part
At Burscough Community Farm, socialising is a key part of the experience. Working alongside others or taking part in our workshops helps build a sense of community and support, which is invaluable for mental health. Engaging with others in a natural setting fosters meaningful connections and combats feelings of isolation.
Reconnect with the Land
Over the last two centuries, since the Industrial Revolution, humans have drifted away from a direct connection with nature. At Burscough Community Farm, we believe that reconnecting with the land can have profound mental health benefits. Our farm provides a sanctuary where people can rediscover the therapeutic power of nature.
Evidence-Based Approach
Our approach to Green Social Prescribing is backed by both our own evidence and numerous research studies. We have seen firsthand the positive impact that nature-based activities and social interaction can have on mental health.
